Most WoW gold-making methods require your full attention. Dungeon farming demands active gameplay. Herb routes need you to steer. Crafting flips require constant Auction House monitoring. Fishing is different. It is the only major gold-making profession where the core activity — cast, wait, click — is repetitive enough to automate or at minimum perform while distracted. What "Passive" Fishing Actually Means

For truly passive sessions, prefer open-water spots over pool routes. Pool routes require movement between pools as they get fished out. Open-water fishing in a single spot means you never need to move — perfect for fully unattended sessions.

What makes passive fishing genuinely powerful over time is compounding. Each session builds your stack of fish. You list in batches timed to peak AH hours (typically Tuesday and Wednesday evenings when raiders are active). Over a month of nightly passive sessions, even conservative numbers add up to 60,000-120,000 gold — from time you were not even playing.
