Fishing mounts and pets are some of the rarest in the game precisely because most players never bother to fish for them. This guide covers every mount and pet you can obtain through fishing, along with the best strategies to farm each one.

Fishable Mounts

Sea Turtle

The Sea Turtle is the original fishing mount and one of the most iconic rare drops in WoW. It has been in the game since Wrath of the Lich King and remains a coveted collectible. The key facts:

• It only drops from pool fishing — open-water casts cannot yield the turtle
• Any fishing pool in Northrend, Cataclysm, or Pandaria zones can drop it
• The drop rate is approximately 1 in 1,000 catches (0.1%)
• It is not a 100% usable flying mount — it is primarily a swimming mount that works on land at slow speed

Great Sea Ray

The Great Sea Ray is an aquatic-only mount that drops from open-water fishing in Battle for Azeroth zones. Unlike the Sea Turtle, this drops from open water rather than pools, making it even harder to specifically target. You simply cast and pray.

The drop rate is estimated at roughly 1 in 5,000 catches, making it one of the rarest fishing drops in the game. Most players who obtain it do so incidentally while fishing for other BfA materials.

Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder

Unlike the other fishing mounts, the Brinedeep Bottom-Feeder is not a random drop. You earn it through a reputation grind with Conjurer Margoss in Legion Dalaran. Fish in the pool at Margoss's Retreat to catch Drowned Mana, then trade 100 Drowned Mana to Margoss for the mount.

The grind takes roughly 3-5 hours of focused fishing. Each catch yields 1-3 Drowned Mana, and you need to reach Best Friend reputation with Margoss to unlock the purchase. Feed him Drowned Mana to increase your reputation.

Deepstar Aurelid

3. Use the lure at a specific location to summon Hirukon (a world boss)
4. Defeat Hirukon (can be soloed at max level) for a guaranteed mount drop

Chuck, Snarly, Muckbreath, and Toothy

These four crocolisk battle pets are all obtained from the Shattrath (Outland) daily fishing quest reward bag. Each quest completion gives you a Bag of Fishing Treasures with a chance at one of these pets. They are considered a set and collectors want all four.

2. Fish during downtime — Queue for a dungeon, wait for a raid group, or watch a show in the background. Fishing collectible farming is perfect for semi-AFK play.
3. Target multiple collectibles at once — If you are fishing in Northrend pools for the Sea Turtle, you are also building Dalaran daily quest progress for the Strand Crawler and Giant Sewer Rat.
4. Be patient with RNG — Some players catch the Sea Turtle in 50 casts. Others take 5,000. Do not get discouraged — every cast has the same probability.
5. Check the Auction House — Some fishing pets are tradeable and may be cheaper to buy than to farm yourself. Compare the Auction House price against the time you would spend fishing.
